Zijn ervaring is onder meer gebaseerd op producten met een hoge toegevoegde waarde, vooral chemische specialiteiten en elektronische producten afkomstig van Nederlandse multinationale bedrijven. Hij heeft reis- en werkervaring in bijna ieder land in Europa, Noord Amerika en Azië en hij beheerst vier Europese talen (Nederlands, Engels, Frans, Duits). Dit maakt het hem mogelijk om met bedrijven in geheel Europa te communiceren.
Van Asbeck heeft gedurende twee perioden (1994-1997 en 2006-2006) in Singapore gewerkt en gewoond. Dit bood hem de gelegenheid om de omliggende gebieden te leren kennen en zich te verdiepen in de Aziatische cultuur en de commerciële praktijk in de regio.
